Last Thursday night in the recently reopened Mascot Library I hosted a small celebration which recognised over 1300 years of service. What we did was recognise those who work for Council, and our community, with more than 20 years service. The longevity of the commitment to our City that we experience with Council employees is actually quite remarkable. We recognised 38 employees with 20 years service as well as 12 with more than 30 years. The longest serving Council employee has a remarkable 41 years of service. All up, there was over 1300 years of proudly working for our City. I reckon we’re probably pretty unique in local government.
